#SMASHTESSFAM FEATURE - ADRIENNE NEUFELD
Meet Adrienne Neufeld - influencer, impressionist, and easy-going mom
You may know her from her impression videos on Instagram, her down-to-earth posts, or laughing along with her as she pokes fun of herself and influencer culture alike. We can’t wait to introduce our newest #smashtessfam feature, Adrienne Neufeld.
As a female founded company and a trio of moms, women’s reproductive mental health is so important to us at Smash + Tess, and that’s why we made the focus of our #givingtuesday campaign supporting local NICU mamas and BC Womens Health Foundation’s Her Mind, Her Health initiative. Adrienne recently went through the loss of a pregnancy, and we invited her to share her story and what this topic means to her at our upcoming S+T x Her Mind, Her Health virtual fundraiser on Instagram Live, on December 7 (make sure to tune in at 3pm PT).
We couldn’t think of anyone better to announce the return of our best-selling Sesame Street Collaboration - the perfect Rompers for families during this Holiday Season, and beyond. We hope you love Adrienne as much as we do! Make sure to read until the end for a fun surprise!
You are so down to earth! As an influencer how do you balance what you share with your followers vs what you keep private?
I used to share very surface level but honest stuff. After losing the baby is when I started being more open and vulnerable, something that doesn’t come naturally to me. I think I just ask myself can this help someone, encourage them or make them smile. I try to go by that guideline, I never want people to feel less than or that they are missing out on something.
We truly admire how you’ve shared your journey through pregnancy and loss, do you have advice for other women struggling with similar experiences?
I honestly never thought I’d be able to share on this subject. I still kind of feel like an imposter on this topic. Every experience is so different but loss is still loss no matter when you experience it.
Feel the feelings, grieve the life that would have been and don’t rush yourself. “Grief is not linear” is what I heard the most from people and it’s very true. However, don’t let the loss define you and don’t live in that state of ‘what if’ or ‘what could have been’.
I love this quote a friend sent to me by John Piper “Occasionally weep deeply over the life you hoped would be. Grieve the losses. Then wash your face. Trust God. And embrace the life you have.” When the feelings come don’t try and push them away let them come. Acknowledge them and then move forward. I would highly recommend seeing a councillor and just remember you are not alone!
Who inspires you?
Joanna Gaines, I didn’t know much about her until I started studying her for an impression. But she’s amazing, being a mom of 5 and accomplishing all she has done. She also puts her faith at the forefront of what they do and I love that. Ultimately, there are a lot of people that inspire me for different reasons.
This year has all about staying home and spending time with your own household- what does spending time with YOUR family look like?
I’m not going to lie, we like to watch TV haha or I’m usually forcing them all to help me make a video.
Fave way to rock a Romper?
I like using them as pyjamas and lounging around the house. But if I’m going out then a long coat with a toque.
Fave song to pump you up?
Oh man, I don’t think I can answer this. So many songs pump me up. But I love older classics like Earth Wind and Fire, and MJ, and all those groovy hits.
What does your ultimate Sunday consist of?
Coffee, Church (which is online now), hanging with friends and family and not having any agenda but to be together, eat food and hang out.
Current Netflix binge?
If I don’t know what to watch I go straight for The Office. We are also dipping our toes into Seinfeld right now.
What does being in the #smashtessfam mean to you?
I’m so honoured. You’ve worked with and featured so many amazing women that I can’t believe I get to be in the same category as them!! So, thank you I don’t feel qualified haha.
You’re so well-known now for your impression videos - how did those start?
My friend @bethanymenzel gave me the idea and I ran with it. I never thought it would become such a thing and I’d have 20 wigs sitting in my closet.
Okay - now for that fun surprise we mentioned! Those impression videos we talked about so much? Well, Adrienne made one as our Co-Founder, Ashley! Just hit play on the video below to see Adrienne in action as Ashley Freeborn! Enjoy!
You can preview the Sesame Collection here launching on December 8, at 8am PT. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of our beloved Grover, the first 200 orders with an adult and mini Romper will receive a copy of The Monster at the End of This Book.
