#SMASHTESSFAM FEATURE - CAROLE RADZIWILL
MEET CAROLE RADZIWILL, JOURNALIST, AUTHOR & REALITY TV STAR
You might know Carole Radziwill as a reality star from the Real Housewives of New York but did you know she is an amazing writer and journalist? Carole @caroleradziwill began her career working as an Intern at ABC and eventually went on to work on documentaries about controversial topics. She became an award-winning journalist covering the Gulf War in Iraq, the War on Afghanistan and producing segments for “Profiles from the Frontline.”
After leaving ABC, she wrote a memoir and began writing for Glamour Magazine where she interviewed many celebrities before she joined the cast of The Real Housewives. She now works on various projects including launching a new Romper collection with yours truly!
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR CAREER OR BRAND?
I’ve had a varied and interesting career. As a kid I knew I wanted to work as a journalist and that was, and still is, my first love. I worked at ABC News for 15 years but eventually moved on to publishing after the death of my husband sort of sent my life in another direction. I published two books and wrote for many women’s magazines including a monthly column in Glamour magazine interviewing movie stars (the easiest job I ever had!) I was asked to join RHONY in 2011 and on a whim, I said yes….6 seasons later, after many trips, girls’ weekends, lunches, dinners, dopey disagreements, brainless arguments, laughs and drunken nights it was time to move on. It’s important to recognize when the best of something is in the rear-view mirror.
At this point in my life, after having many successful careers now I am doing what feels good. I never expected to collaborate with a fashion company but two things happened: I got to design my own onesie romper and I found a company that is female lead. I am partnering with female entrepreneurs to create things I love.
WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE THAT HAS SHAPED YOUR JOURNEY?
My best advice in shaping your journey is twofold: In business set your goals really high, visualize yourself there and take chances. In romance be more discerning, the most important decision you will make in your life is the partner you choose to share your journey. Base that on character not cuteness. ☺
ONE TIP FOR BUILDING YOUR OWN BRAND OR BUSINESS?
Focus on something you are passionate about. Anything less doesn’t work.
WHAT DOES YOUR ULTIMATE SUNDAY CONSIST OF?
Because I don’t have a normal nine to five job, my Sunday tends to be like other days. I work out in the morning, after I focus on whatever project that needs my attention and then I plan an afternoon tea, drink or walk with a friend.
CURRENT NETFLIX BINGE?
I am a huge binger of scripted dramas and documentaries. I’ve watched nearly everything. I recently finished two documentaries called “Killer Confessions” and “Don’t F@#k with Cats.” I tend to watch crime shows, although I love “For All Mankind” about the space race.
WHO INSPIRES YOU?
It changes from time to time but it is generally someone I have met or read about who has lived an interesting successful life. By success I don’t mean monetarily, success is living an authentic, kind life filled with things that bring you joy.
DESERT ISLAND BEAUTY PRODUCT?
That’s easy. Sunscreen. Any kind but I recently found one from SkinCeuticals which I love.
FAVE PLACE TO ROCK YOUR ROMPER?
My favourite place to wear my Romper is in my home. It’s so cozy!
WHICH GUILTY PLEASURE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS ARE YOUR FAVE INSTA-FOLLOWS?
Oh god so many: @Kookslams, @norisblackbook, @catloversclub, @textsfrommyex, @mytherapistsays, @the_london_list, @tindernightmares, @9gag and every feed about cats and whales.
WHOSE POSTER DID YOU HAVE ON YOUR BEDROOM WALL WHEN YOU WERE 12 YEARS OLD?
Bucky Dent, David Cassidy, and, of course, the iconic Farrah Fawcett in her red bathing suit. Robert Redford hung in the hallway outside my room. I was in love with all of them!
Now you can see why we have a crush on Carole… she’s accomplished and so cool! The new CR x S+T Collection designed by Carole drops Wednesday, January 15th featuring a Romper, Play Set and Duster so you too can emulate Carole’s chic, relaxed New York style!
