#SMASHTESSFAM FEATURE - SAMANTHA SYLVESTER

A dream come true for dreamwear!

MEET SAMANTHA SYLVESTER – AN AWESOME MOM OF TWO, JILLIAN'S HARRIS’ BESTIE/COUSIN, AND OUR NEWEST MEMBER OF THE #SMASHTESSFAM

Let’s hear it for everyone who mothers! The ones who shaped us, the ones who show up for us, and the ones that may have stepped in to care for us when needed someone most. We love you and we THANK YOU for everything you’ve done for us.

This is the second Mother’s Day in this global pandemic, but that isn’t stopping us from celebrating those who are near and dear to us. If anything, experiencing a distanced Mother’s Day for a second time makes us want to celebrate these special humans in our life even more! Not only do we love them, but we also want to give back to them! This past year has really shown us that we need to hold those who are dear close to us, and celebrate the ones that mother us, care for us and who have had to wear so many different hats.

This year we’ve partnered with BC Women’s Health Foundation to donate 10% of proceeds from this Mother’s Day Collection to support their work in ensuring women have equitable access to high quality healthcare. We are launching our Tuesday Romper and matching Mini in a bestselling favourite – Pop of Pink! Whether you buy it for yourself (you deserve it) or not so secretly hint you need it for Mother’s Day (did you know we have an email a hint button on the product page), this is the perfect Romper to sit down, relax and enjoy your day.

To celebrate the collection, we sat down with Samantha Sylvester to talk all things motherhood and how she loves to #Rompsohard!

What does your ideal Mother’s Day look like?

Oh, this one is easy! I want to not have to worry about anyone else in my house! Dad can take over for the day, meals, cleaning, anything related to dealing with the kids haha. That’s my day to have a break!

What is your favourite part of being a mom?

The intense love you feel... never in a million years before becoming a mom, could I describe the love that rushes through you for these little humans you just met, it’s an unbreakable bond... the best feeling ever!

Partial proceeds of this collection are going towards areas in BC Women’s Health Foundation that are most in need. What does that mean to you being a mother living in BC?

That makes me feel grateful, that as a woman and a mother we have these things accessible to us in BC.

Being a mom during the pandemic has been more challenging – what advice do you have for other moms?

It’s definitely been more challenging, and the best advice I feel like I can give to anyone else that I have learnt throughout this... is to give yourself grace. We may get irritated, tired, and restless...but we have never had to be isolated like this before, so we are allowed to have our moments of frustration.

So, if you’re feeling burnt out, get your kids McDonalds if you don’t feel like cooking, give them that iPad... whatever you can do for your sanity to have a little break and don’t beat yourself up over it!

What was one thing your mom taught you about motherhood?

The first thing that really sticks out to me, is how she taught me to not sweat the small stuff. Growing up, and even now.... My mom has always been so calm and positive about everything. If there’s something I am stressing out about with the kids (or anything in general) she is the first person I call and always makes me feel better after.

That is a trait I hope I can pass along to Hayden and Finn, because it has been so helpful my entire life to always know she is the person who can always uplift me in any situation... and I think we can all agree, parenting is a tough job!

Who inspires you?

I would have to say my mom and my cousin Jill! They are both insanely strong women and the thing that sticks out the most is how positive they both are.

My entire life, my mom has always looked at the better and positive side of things rather than the negative (I call her a million times a day, so that’s the best hype woman to have haha). And as for Jill, I can say the exact same thing... she is always pumping my tires and pushing me to grow in so many different ways. I am so thankful for them both!

What is your fave way to rock your Romper?

Definitely at home, all day long (and most days of the week). With my slippers and a comfy cardigan!

What does your ultimate Sunday look like?

Nothing to do, no errands or projects... and hanging out with my husband, 2 kids and dog for the entire day!

Fave pump-up song?

That’s a hard one, but right now I would have to say “Peaches” by Justin Bieber (yes, I’m a Biebs fan).

What does being a part of the #smashtessfam mean to you?

That I am surrounded by an incredibly supportive group of women, everyone lift’s each other up and there is always so much love going around! The #smashtessfam is truly an amazing community!

How will you be celebrating everyone who mothers in your life this Mother’s Day? We think this Romper is a good start!
