#SMASHTESSFAM FEATURE - SONIA SIDHU-KENNEDY
We’re so excited to introduce you to Sonia, radio personality, mom and the newest member of our #smashtessfam!
We had the pleasure of photographing Sonia, her husband John and their daughter, Ciara for one of our recent campaigns. Sonia and her family are the sweetest people ever and we knew we had to learn a little more about her. Let’s get into it, shall we?!
Aside from being Smash Tess models, what are some other pandemic-friendly activities you have been doing as a family?
Walks, so many walks! Living in Vancouver and in a tiny apartment, we are so grateful for the days where we can get out of the house and get some fresh air.
You recently returned to your job with KiSS radio after maternity leave. What advice would do you have for moms making the transitions back to work after having a child?
The separation anxiety is very real—not so much for my daughter but for ME! Some advice I received when I was feeling mom guilt about not being with my daughter all day was, “You’re going to work for her. You’re taking care of her in a different way, remember that.” I always remind myself of this when I’m missing her.
Your adorable daughter, Ciara is going to be 2 this year! What lessons do you want to teach her as she grows up?
I want to teach her to have a strong voice and a humble heart, above anything else.
We LOVE listening to your radio show Mornings with Kevin and Sonia. If you weren’t on the radio, what would be your dream job?
I always thought I would make an awesome infomercial actor. You know, the one that has pots and pans fall on them when they open a cupboard or falls on the ground while mopping the floor?? I am pretty clumsy in my everyday life, so I feel like I could really nail this job.
We just celebrated Mother’s Day (we hope you were spoiled!) What is one thing that motherhood has taught you?
It has given me a whole new sense of respect for my own mother. I never truly understood the sacrifices she made for my brother and I. I’m forever grateful.
We are obsessed with you and Ciara’s matching outfits! How do you like to style your matching Smash Tess Rompers?
I’m a sucker for a great denim jacket and yes, we have matching ones. We also have matching aviators. I’m going to be twinning with her for as long as she lets me!
What is your favourite way to #ROMPSOHARD?
Dance parties in the kitchen are our thing. My girl dances like I did in my 20’s, I can’t keep up!
What does a perfect Sunday look like for you?
Sundays in our house usually means a cozy morning on the couch while I do a bit of work for Monday’s show on KiSS RADiO Vancouver. Once I'm done, family naps are always a must and a walk. We try to keep it as chill as possible so we can start our Monday off right.
What is your go-to pump-up song?
Well, now that I'm a mom, my favourite pump-up song is whatever my daughter is listening to! Right now, her favourite is “Best Friend” by Saweetie. She stops what’s she’s doing whenever it comes on and hits our unofficial dance floor in the kitchen.
What does being a part of the #SMASHTESSFAM mean to you?
It’s an honour to be a part of this community. Smash + Tess Rompers were my uniform throughout my pregnancy. It’s a full circle moment now to be wearing matching Rompers with my mini.
