MAMA TESS ON #WFH AND HER FAMOUS BANANA BREAD RECIPE!
We are so proud to have the support of our S+T community and it's because of YOU we can continue to do what we love during these uncertain times. It is because of YOU that we are able to do our part in the community, all while rockin' a Romper THANK YOU #smashtessgirls.
We also want to share a letter from our Founders about S+T and COVID-19, you can read it here.
Many of you tuned into our Instagram Live Romper Party (aka the new slumber party) this past weekend and shared how much you loved Mama Tess' energy, spirit and wise advice! So, we decided to ask her some of your questions we didn't get to on instagram...and if you read to the verrry end you might see we got a copy of her famous banana bread to share!
How has your leadership style changed during this pandemic?
I’ve always been a calm leader but I find that of late, I’ve kicked up this attribute. There’s plenty of alarmist behaviour out there - I think it's the last thing we need. I have also been encouraging folks to voice their perspective more. We will make better decisions when we consider all perspectives.
What is your advice for working from home?
Try business as usual as much as possible. Set your alarm, follow your routine - shower, dress and begin your day. Take breaks - to walk around, check in with friends, etc.
California is currently on lockdown - how have you been spending your days?
Work hasn’t stopped! In fact, it's more 24/7 than previously. I have my phone and computer at the ready. If I need a break - my go to has been baking and cooking - provided I have the groceries on hand!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t lose sight of the longer term vision - this too will pass.
You are a super confident woman - what advice would you give women still trying to find their confidence?
We usually lack confidence because we are afraid of making mistakes. In my mind, mistakes are the exhaust of busy, doing people. Give yourself and everyone around you license to make mistakes - and then learn from them and don’t ever do them again. The next time you approach a similar situation, you will feel more confident.
